SALT ISLAND PENS

Contributor(s): Publication details: 1881Summary: The red shading in the plan represents a part of Salt Island Pen in the parish of St. Catherine claimed by John Alex Mills who holds an unrewarded conveyance from Murray, Frankson and Davis to John Alex Mills for 10 acres part of 45 acres conveyed by William Harvey et al Thomas Banner in May 1769 which 45 acres were a part of Oldfields Bog. The land Harvie to Banner is situated to the north of the Salt Island Creek as described so that Mills is in possession of the wrong land. It appears however that Frankson, from whose family he purchased it, was in possession of this land under the same title for many years. The history of the land that really belongs to Mills is very district. Harvie sold to Banner 4th May, 1769. Banner sold to Frankson 7th December, 1769. Frankson sold to Mills 16 August, 1869, deed not recorded. Suit appears these successive owners have been in possession of the land different to that conveyed by their deed. Prepared from actual surveys for the information of D.S.C Phillippo, 21st June 1881. Thomas Harrison
