The collection deals with botanical specimens such as ferns which were sent to Kew and plants received in Jamaica. Most letters written from Brockenhurst estate, Mandeville, Manchester Jamaica, and Botanic Garden, Bath, St Thomas. Some include comments on the state of Jamaica. Letter dated 7 June, 1867 refers to the Morant Bay Rebellion, G.W. Gordon and Mrs. Gordon and gives history of the Bath Botanic gardens, f. 189ss. Includes early postmakers, e.g. Mandeville 1842, f.9 (v) & passim. 1 vol., 191ff bound in half leather, gold lettered. Stamped Institute of Jamaica, 27 Apr., 1910.
