Ralph Williams was governor of the Dominion of Newfoundland from 1909 to 1913, at which time he retired from colonial service and wrote this autobiography. Williams wrote of his childhood and education in England, his extensive military service and British colonial leader positions, and also his time as governor of the Windward Islands and Newfoundland.
